The silk road was one of the greatest inventions and allowed trade to expanded. This amazing trade route let countries far away trade with each other. "Thanks to silks light weight, compactness, enormous demand and high price it was
ideal for trade and long-distance transportation." The most common object traded was silk, hence how it got its name. I believe that if the silk road was never invented, life would be different than it is today. Countries in the middle ages relied on trade and this route let them trade with various countries. As the silk road was used more, more items were traded. Some countries traded animals while others traded clothes. This route let countries get what they want, and give up what they didn't want but others did. This route was a major contribution to the world today.
The silk road allowed countries to trade whatever they wanted. The goods carried on the Silk Road moved basically from the East to the West. At the initial stage of the Silk Road development Chinese received expensive
horses and the seeds of lucerne and grapes. "Central Asia exported camels which were very appreciated in China, military
equipment, gold and silver, semi-precious stones and glass items." Chinese paper, one of the most remarkable inventions of Chinese technical
genius, was highly appreciated too. Many countries trades iron, silver, gold, coal, clothing, and ore. India was famous for its fabrics, spices and semi-precious
stones, dyes, and ivory. Iran – for its silver products. Rome received spices,
fragrances, jewels, ivory, and sugar and sent European pictures and luxury
goods. Many countries became very successful from the silk road and later grew very powerful.
